Duke's is celebrating 90 years. They are certainly doing something right.

I agree - the lemon in it is most likely what brightens the flavor.

Duke's. Can't live without it.

kinnip - I shelled out my $5 per jar when I moved up here. No way could we eat the other stuff. One of my kids was almost in tears when at first we couldn't even find it.

Mayonnaise, as defined by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Standard of Identity, must contain at least 65% oil by weight, vinegar, and egg or egg yolks. It may contain spices and natural seasonings except turmeric and saffron, as yellow color might suggest added egg yolk. No emulsifying agents other than eggs are allowed, so real mayonnaise does not contain any starches or gums.

That is why many of the brands on the store shelf have to be labled as dressing and sandwhich spreads - which many people think of as mayonnaise. Few are real mayonnaise.

My mom is a fan of Miracle Whip and Salad dressings so I always had to tell her I want REAL Mayonaise and she bought is especially for me. I'm not a miracle whip type person, too much sweetness, DOES NOT GO GOOD with a good 'ol tomato Sandwich IMO, LOL
