dumb question about bedding

Back story, bought a house with a coop allready there, this lady had bags and bags of. Cut up magazines and used them as bedding.. not newspaper but magazine paper....


Why? She had bags and bags of it in the coop, the floor and the nesting boxes were empty


How did the magazine paper help?

Probably just using whatever she had on hand (or could get for free) as bedding material.

x2 I can't think of any possible benefit to that other than her wanting to recycle what she had on hand.

Maybe she thought the chickens like to read the beauty tips and TV schedule while they had some time on their hands / wings.

Really that is not a good bedding at all, as its not going to absorb moisture. Also it might be toxic if the hens eat it.
