Do ducks HAVE to have water to swim in?

No, just as you don't have to have what you crave to exist. They love water, so why not give it to them.

Lol I know someone that has ducks and geese and the only thing they swim in is a oil pan that he puts water in. I would assume they arent dependent on water but like it since they are adapted to it and all. It sure is fun to watch them dive though.

That's one of the reasons I won't be able to get ducks is because of the water. I already said that I would keep it clean,and empty it everyday. There is a pond right next to our house so I can take them out daily to have a swim.

They don't need it-but would be very unhappy without it. They will need to have water deep enough to dunk their heads in, and might end up swimming in the water dish....

That was also another problem is that they are nasty...Ever since I told my dad he was just quiet about it and that's a good sign!

Mine have 2 wading pools that are emptied and refilled daily. They are funny though because they will go for any water. The dogs water dish, the footwash for the kids pool (high enough to be duck resistant), any mud puddle.... you get the picture. They are too funny. I love my ducks

Aww! I WANT DUCKS!! Escpecially cause I've lost some chicks today for reasons that could have been helped.
