Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat - Part 2 : Chicken Boogaloo.

That's strange, is she especially attached to it? I've heard of animals having other species as companions and often they can be very bonded and it could work but in reality they really need at least one of their own species. She should sell this pony or buy another pony, it's not fair but I'm sure you know that.

And wow, that's terrible! Glad you were able to save her

He is the most adorable little thing! Here's he and me together...

He'd probably do well with a goat or mini donk.

I'll take him. I have two ex show mini's in my pasture xD

I know our old hen use to have a goat for her friend. She didn't like other chickens and chased them out of her yard but she never left that goats side. Even when our goat died she wouldn't let us take his body away. She chased down my stepfather and pecked at him.

He's so cute! That makes sense, forgot minis were so small aha i guess it depends on the animal

Id love minis lol

Aw wow that's interesting but i also kinda feel bad for the hen. Not cause it was a bad life, sounds like a great life, but when her goat friend died.

I guess it probably depends on the individual animal.

And I for one prefer animals over people LOL so animals can probably feel the same way.

It was hard for Tiki after Laces died. He was her walking perch and he looked after her. Shortly after he died and was no longer guarding her a fox got into our barn and got the hen T.T He was her friend and guardian. While he was alive a fox would have gotten the business end of a horn and probably ended up fatally wounded. That goat was mean when it came to protecting his hen.

Aw that's so sad but wow, he really loved her!

Anyone watch the live bald eagle cam in Florida? Talk about the dumbest things people have said Lol!

'How do you know the other egg won't hatch, she laid it a few days after the other"...... "Someone should check and see if it's fertile" ..... "Your just going to let the other egg die!!?
WOW! there was hundreds of dumb comments, the American Eagle Foundation explained it in plain English, and some of them just didn't get it...."You're just going to let them kick the egg out of the nest!!? You should save it!"

Then I got wandering around on the 'net' checking out the best breed of chickens for Florida, figured naked necks or leghorn/big comb birds etc. Guess all do good there as long as they're provided plenty of shade. Was on a backyard/urban site, rich people on the coast getting into backyard chickens, laws, only a few hens no roosters, quietest breeds, how and what to do, lot of info, well written, then the article said "you can expect 2-3 eggs a day per hen"

Even that would be a weird typo as I typically get 6 a week per hen from my laying breeds. I do also have a lot of ornamental breeds but I have low expectations for them anyway since that's not why I have them.

Just the other day I was talking to a young lady who was telling me how she shows chickens and we were chatting about different breeds and such. I showed her a picture of my Crested Cream Legbar hen and she said "Oh she is so pretty! You should breed her!" I told her I would if I had a rooster but I can't have one just yet as I currently live in the suburbs. She said "Thats ok, you could just send some of her eggs to someone with a rooster and get them fertilized!" I just about choked. I couldn't believe that someone who keeps chickens for show and has both hens and roosters had no idea how chickens reproduce. I asked her how she thought chickens fertilize their eggs and she said "I don't know. Doesn't the rooster go sit on the eggs or something?" I gave her a brief explination of the chicken mating process and was rewarded by a look of shocked horror as she realized what was going on when her roosters mount her hens. She thought they were just showing dominance
