My father grew up on a dairy farm and they butchered a steer every year for meat and they had a family over for dinner one Sunday and they served some steak from the one they butchered and one of the kids said the wished they lived on a farm so they could eat free steak every day....

I've worked cattle... no beef is better than purely pasture raised beef, I love them, but I eat em...

Just curious. Does any one ever challenge these kind of statements by asking where the individual gleaned this information? The response will probably be something along the lines of "everyone knows" which, of course, is what is called "popular wisdom" (vs factually based wisdom). Maybe it's just me, but I enjoy these challenges and letting people see for themselves (if they can) where their thinking went wrong. I love seeing that light bulb go off when they figure it out for themselves.

How does anyone 'NOT' know that chickens can lay brown eggs? That just astounds me.

I'd like to challenge my grandmother on her idea that "Brown eggs are better tasting than white". I should do one of those blind taste tests.

What if she got it right? :gig

Haha! Well, if you could get them, do a blind taste test with a white, cream, light brown, brown, dark brown, terra cotta speckled, blue, green, bluegreen, etc. and that might make it harder ;)

And THEN you should have sub sections for each size of each color. Or if she did get it right you could just say "Surprise! It's a green egg!"

:) I boxed up some of my girls eggs and proudly delivered them around to some friends and relatives. Most were thrilled but one aunt refused them and looked digusted! She said, 'I'm sorry but I cant eat these - I know where they come from - chickens!'
Are people crazy??????!!!!! LOL
