I think it comes from most of the stores. Usually the white ones are the "regular" eggs, and the brown ones are the cage free, organic, free range, etc eggs.

I was also told by a lady at the swap last week she eats green/blue eggs because they are lower in cholsterol, she didnt know how/why though.

I stopped after work to see some friends, (same friends who took in 6 of my rescue chicks) and they wanted me to see how beautiful the cockerel is now that he is really feathering in... so sure... well... I got my first flogging. "Boss" leapt up, got ahold of my finger and kicked the crap outta me! I'm scratched and have a few bruises forming...

my friend? stood there like

! she couldn't believe that he could be "mean" he's only 6 months old, and very strong... he's gonna be a handful, and forget it when he develops spurs!

I knocked him back... he charged again, knocked him back again, and again he charged... I'm done with Boss.

If he where mine we'd be having Boss over for dinner, and he'd have the place of honor as the main course for dinner....

I bought into the idea that brown eggs were somehow healthier. I thought they were more "natural".

I think that idea got started by many people because their family and friends where meaning the brown eggs they got from home raised chickens where more healthy in their eyes because they where home raised in a better enviroment than battery eggs that came from the commercial egg companies that are generally white.

Ty For the laughs.... Kim
Kim! It has been so long! how has it been?

hmmmmmmmm, I don't think that "Boss" roo was trying to mate with me... I've been around different birds over the years... a friend of mine has a gorgeous parrot, and he's smitten with me... gets up on my shoulder and regurgitates food on me. apparently that's the parrots way of saying "hey baby"!
I've had roos also smitten with me... my Barney... golly do I miss him...! he would do the "skitter dance" (tap his feet and drop his wing) and bring me things like leaves and pine cones. he was never ever mean, but he didn't live long enough for me to find out how much of a handful he would've become...
I have 3 other cockerels, Royce, 24 weeks, has been watching Osiris, 20 weeks, flirt with me and skitter dance... Osiris lets me pet him and hold him, even when out ranging, he is a very sweet and handsome boy... so, today... Royce gave it a whirl and did a little skitter dance for me. I laughed and reached out, not to necessarily touch him, but to offer my hand as I always do, he jumped sideways, but stayed close, then he started jerking his head in such a way that his comb actually made a snapping noise, that is a new one for me! it was pretty cool, sounded just like snapping my fingers, which when I did that... he looked at me like

! I've never seen his eyes so wide! it was such a great afternoon...

My husband remembers a TV jingle that went:

"Brown eggs are local eggs and local eggs are FRESH!"

He lived in New England and perhaps that's where the commercial ran. That may be where that idea came from as I would think just 2 generations before us knew that any color egg could be "local" or "fresh"....
