An elderly women told me when I was selling her eggs "why do you wash some of your eggs, I only like the brown ones" she was talking about the white eggs in the box.
We have had cockerels with all our hens for a few years now and we eat the eggs from them all the time so pretty much all of our eggs are fertile. I bought hatching eggs a while ago and when I was putting them under the broody on fell and cracked (a tiny little unnoticeable crack) so I told my mam that she could use it for scrambling. Her replie was "no there is a baby chick inside that" I burst out laughing and told her all our eggs are fertile and these hatching eggs are no different. She didn't look to pleased afterwords.
I have also gotten these as well
Why don't you keep your eggs in the refrigerator
What's that big chicken over there (pointing at a cockerel)
Why don't those hens crow
Dating yourselfWhen I was about 5 I had never seen a live chicken and I knew only roosters crow. I saw Fog Horn Leg Horn and Cornieous the kellogs rooster and knew that.
Guess you didn't hear about the 1,500 lbs of venison that the hunters' association in Louisiana donated to the shelter in Shreveport. Normally, the shelter takes it, no problem. However, this year, one of their residents complained about it, and the state ordered the shelter to destroy the meat. It was perfectly good meat, processed by a meat-processing plant, and everything. All because of one individual who apparently didn't like being served "Bambi". The shelter had been taking the donation every year, for several years, and no complaints, until this year. One person ruined it for many.Maybe it's just during deer season, but I've heard of deer meat being donated. Why not chickens? Seems logical to me.

LOL! I don't have a problem with venison... in fact, I have two of 'em in my freezer, and I'm making sate with one of the loins tomorrow for a family BBQ get-together. However, my own daughter-in-law refuses to eat venison. Her husband, my stepson, tricked her one time, fixed chili with some venison, and didn't tell her it was in it. She said it was the best chili she'd had, until he told her. Then she refused to eat anymore of it. I have a story of my own daughter, too, about venison. She abhorred the thought of eating "Bambi", and wouldn't have anything to do with it. So, my boyfriend at the time and I took my girls to his mom and step-dad's house, where mom had fixed stew with venison. We didn't tell her that it contained venison, and she ate it, heartily. Mom had leftovers, so she sent them home with us. I put them in the refrigerator when we got home, and figured I'd fix it for dinner a couple of nights later. So, the time comes to prepare it for dinner, I pull it out, open up the container and proceed to put it in the pot to warm up. Then I notice, there's no meat in it! What the heck happened to the meat???? Turns out, my daughter had snuck into the kitchen the night we brought it home, and picked out all the meat and ate it all! That's when we told her it was "Bambi" she ate, and she said, "I know." From then on, she was a venison-fanatic, and she still loves it when friends will give her venison roasts from their kills.ok - do I vent here or not. ok im gonna do it. if a person is going there can be that picky, do they really need the food bank? I personally like deer, I guess I can understand someone having an issue with it at the same time. I think if my family were going hungry, id give it a try even if I hadn't tried it.![]()
