My sister says she will NEVER eat a free range egg because the chickens eat bugs!

When mine free range all I ever see them eat is grass. There has been the occasional frog (who can resist a good frog leg?) and bug but its mostly veggies for my ladies. They are grass gourmets actually.... preferring the St Augustine grass to all the other less desirables in my yard like bahia, hahaaha!!

How about this one...

Some people came to me last year wanting chickens and dairy goats. They wanted bred does, had them bred and then cancelled sticking me with extra kids, pregnancies, milkings, bottlefeedings etc. They DID take home 4 chickens...and just recently (1 year later) they decide that these 4 chickens are just "too much work" and "don't want them any more!"

They would have flipped if they had dairy goats.

I have another dumb thing that was said to share...This wasn't said to me as I don't raise meat chickens but it ties into the whole chicken milk thing above. Some guy told my husband not to eat chicken breasts because "they" inject the hens "breasts"with estrogen to make them bigger, lol!! "(he believed only the hens were used for breast meat, omg lol!!) I was really astounded how absolutely clueless some people are about food and animals in general. I just wanted to smack him upside the head and say Hello no mammary glands in chickens dude!! they aren't mammals...
