Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat

Gracie (mother) is really thin. i guess its because of the size of the litter. i'm thinking of getting some biljack (spelling) to feed her unless someone tells me different. any suggestions? some will be red and some will be blue like her. they get their colors later on - like dalmations.
i swear by coconut oil in my dogs food. It will put the weight on her and glossy out her coat. And healthy (chicken breast, leftover steak, peas, carrots, bananas) table scraps are always helpful (and shes sure to love it)

I live in a country where cropping and docking is illegal - I think it's a load of baloney.

The government should keep their noses out of people's lives like this. What someone wants to do with their dog; be it spaying/neutering, cropping or docking is no one's business but the pet owner.
I am pro-crop/dock. Just last week on a forum I am involved in, saw a Dalmatian have his tail amputated due to him continually injuring it from overenthusiastic wagging.
Docking is not only done for working purposes, it's also done as a injury preventative on breeds with thin, whip-like tails. Take boxers for example, when their tail is left un-docked, it becomes a whipping machine. Very easily injured and broken.

I respect other people's opinions of cropping/docking being cruel and unnecessary, but IMO, it isn't.

Just my 2c.
i am with you, i am sort of indifferent on it. we have decided not to dock them because happy tail is not very common on them; and the fact that they aren't full blooded. im the same way on dubbing my game roosters here. i breed for show, and crooked combs show up even when dubbed; so i breed for straight, well spaced points. if someone wants to buy and show one of my cockerels, i will help them dub it. i dont show myself because i cant leave for days at a time to do it, i cant find anyone who will feed all these animals for me. (and do it right)

Oh you saw that travesty too? So horrible, the acting was bad... so very bad. At first I thought it was going to be a show about maybe some new fossil discoveries of megalodon or something which would have been interesting to me. But that garbage? Blahhh...I really wish they would return to showing real science instead of docudramas. The mermaid show is even worse.I hope people don't actually think that photo shopped footage is real.

so glad i wasn't the only one that noticed it did you notice that when they showed the pics of the "shark" by the u-boats at first they flashed it up three times well the second time they showed the pic the fins were facing a different direction than the first and third time if this is where the documentaries are going i am disappointed they are about the only decent thing to watch on TV (coming from a 16 year old) and i agree to about the mermaid thing when they first played that one they talked about some ridiculous aquatic ape theory and they almost had me agreeing with the theory but then they said we were the only land animals that sweat and at that moment i just wondered how dumb i could be for almost falling for it

Yeah I've never completely understood when people get so worked up about how "mean" cropping/docking is. Especially when these same people typically say how important it is to spay and neuter your pets. I think if anything spaying and neutering is a much more serious surgery and probably more painful recovery time. I mean ask any person "would you rather be castrated or have a piece of your ear cut off" and almost instantly without thought they'll say "Ear cut off!" Now I'm not saying I'm against spay/neuter, I'm just saying if your gonna be against one thing because you think its mean you should be against all of them lol that's just MY opinion is all. But yeah I don't think its anyone's business what you do with your animals as long as they are taken care of and happy. And I don't think they puppies even remember losing their tales lol ANYWAY sorry off track some talk more about chickens haha!

So appearntly if I don't clean the eggs, they throw a fit.
If I don't clean the eggs, knows what happens?
Nothing.
Absolutely nothing.
You can store them on the counter.
You can clean them prior to cooking.
You don't eat the shell.
So it matters of there's a bit of poop on it?
I'm sorry, I don't bleach our eggs, I keep them fresh from the butt,
That Inculdes not washing off the layer of protective-ness from bacteria.
Gosh, and this was coming from someone who hunts!! Why do you care about a bit of poo?? Wash it before you crack it open, or shut up.

My aussie shepherd/blue heeler mix has a Naturally Bobbed Tail he got from the aussie shepherd side. It's part of the Aussie breed. They can have bobbed tail all the way to full tails. You would not believe the amount of people who do not believe that.

hahaha I just had the exact same conversation. Now luckily most of my eggs are poop free anyways but I had a couple that were a bit poopy and I keep my eggs on the center island in a basket. Well my friend came over and nearly screamed because it had poo on it AND it was in my house!! I just looked over and asked if she ate egg shells because I've never eaten any, then she insisted on washing them and now I think I'll try to keep two eggs that are a little dirty on the island every time she comes over.

What do you mean 'for good reason'? Do you think tail docking is cruel?

Yes I do think tail docking is cruel. Dogs use their tails for balancing, and for social reasons. They show their emotion with their tails. Would you like a part of your body removed usually without anesthetic and usually just for cosmetic reasons.

Would you ever think twice about docking a lambs tail? No? Because it prevents fly strike? Well same thing goes for dogs. Usually done at couple days old, they put a very tight rubber band on the tail. Falls off a bit later. Same technique w/ lambs. Some dogs have poor tails that need docked, some are working so also need docked.
Personally if I bred Blue Heelers (we own 1, wanted to breed but we got a breeding female and she became a chicken murderer) I'd leave the tails on. The tail is used for balance when herding, but can also get stepped on, very a wibbly wobbly subject, have heard many different opinions, but it seems that docking is most common when they're used for herding. I love those guys.

I bred my corgie and I tried the rubber band but it was just too nasty so I paid a very small amount and had the pups tails cut off.

Didnt want to pick up half tails? that's why I don't have sheep that need docked tails - Do NOT want to pick up half tails!!

I would like to add, blue heelers are a very common pet here, they can easily be taught not to nip and make great, loyal pets. When the pup we sold is bred (we sold her to a person who has a blue heeler intact, so they do have plans on breeding her, too tempting not too  ) we have first dibs. Our current heeler will not be happy, but I'd love to breed some quality heelers :D
