Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat

Because people at the grocery stores have dietician degrees and know exactly what they are talking about. LOL. That is like asking the janitor in a hospital for medical advice. They might know something, but the knowledge is highly suspect.

I've been reading about Americans and lamb, and I'm shocked! You guys need to try it. Seriously it's the best meat going. Apart from the girl on here who is vegetarian who comments on things a lot, I don't remember your name :)

But other than that go eat some lamb, lamb shank slow cooked in minted gravy, that is like my favourite food.

We eat lamb and mutton every so often.. it's hard to find in the grocery stores and more expensive here than beef... but it is pretty darn good.. luckily we have a friend who raises sheep... so the supply is there... have thought about raising our own.. but finding people who are willing to sell lambs isn't so easy... I would rather get a few babies to raise as breeders than to buy older sheep... we have asked our friend about buying some off of him.. but he knows he can get a much higher price at the sale if he raises them to a larger size so he likes to hang onto his for as long as he can...

I love sheep, I've done work experience lambing. If I had the room I'd have a herd of Shetlands to raise for mutton. I've never had mutton, that is practically impossible to find here in the UK

I only found out on this forum that lamb is not a commonly eaten in America, you have to try it. I prefer lamb to beef, slow roasted for several hours on a low temperature. It is delicious just falls apart on your fork.

It's uncommon for Americans to eat lamb or mutton. I have no idea why. Since all that isn't very readily available in suburbia, we usually commission one every few months or so and roast it outside in a pit (barbacoa). It's very good, so long as the meat is tender enough.

My 'rents explained that horse meat is considered rare or a delicacy? They've both eaten it before and they explained that it was tough, like beef. They've never eaten dog and they find it strange - they associate it with hard core poverty, especially since the dogs in their village were just skin and bones and disease/flea ridden. It's too much trouble to kill a dog like that, esp. if the only thing you're going to get is a few bones to suck on.

You should try slow roasting it in it's juices. Just like Irishhenman says :) In the UK people don't eat horse, but in France they do and it's not considered crazy in the same was as dog. Apparently it's actually better than beef, because it's lean and tastes nicer.

We had a huge "Horse meat scandal" earlier this year, they found horse DNA in beef products like frozen lasagne, everyone lost their minds, but mostly because we didn't know about it and it was basically illegal from the black market, as well as being mislabelled.

We are getting back into Lamb. I have Roasted a boneless Lamb shoulder for the last two Christmas dinners. In the Summer I BBQ Lamb Loins. It is New Zealand Lamb And is Grass Fed from Costco.

I'd eat more lamb if it wasn't so expensive. I need to get my fencing done and a shelter set up before June so I can get a starter herd of Jacob sheep. I love the look of them. I actually like goat best I and that's almost impossible to find.
