Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat

They COULD be being laid by an older hen that is having some sort of mishap in her egg machine. I think they're as cute as can be but I prefer not to find them... for that reason. Not sure what the problem is and have no idea what to do about it.

I'm sure its possible that if a bantam laid a really small egg it may have a yolk in it but when the come from a large bird? Sometimes, too, when they first start laying again after a molt I may get a tiny egg like that but usually only one. I'm thankful that their systems get up and running properly in short order!
Oh dear.....
I hope I don't have a sick hen....

I can't eat some of the eggs my bantams lay. Because they are just too cute! I mean look at this one: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/690080/look-at-this-itty-bitty-egg-so-cute

I mean, I don't actually think I could have eaten that, but I wouldn't if I could anyways!

omg that is the cutest little egg I've ever ever seen! I literally burst out a gut laugh when I saw it in the little plastic bubble... it even looks too small to try to blow and save the shell... ty for sharing your pics! you're right... too small to eat, you'd need a dozen just to = one large egg... Fabulous!

a big storm blew in and kicked me off the internet... so i didn't get a chance to finish reading all the rest of the comments... sure do hope it's a bantam egg... and not a "problem"

and it was interesting to learn it might be kept as is...without rotting... hope so

Funny, I ask people if they ever had fresh farm eggs before and warn them about peeling boiled very fresh eggs, the yolk color, shell color and the taste... the diffrence between my duck eggs and chicken eggs-

Then they know before even opening the eggs...

and they appreciate the info

*sigh*

Ya'll know -YOU- we not born chicken/egg experts either-

I still think there is a % of these questions that are -not- stupid that should get honest answers not stupid/sarcastic ones...

There is lots of misinformation perpetuated about our lovely chickens, like they need a rooster or they have to smell, or they lay in the AM, that fertile eggs are different (in nutrition) then infertile eggs or a chick can hatch at any time form any egg... these things are not true but genuinely accepted. Someone is not -stupid- for believing something they have been exposed to as truth over and over again.

I totally agree, but it's still fun to make fun of them!

I don't know about the rest of the posters, but I'm sure they feel the same when I say I don't mind it when people honestly don't know because they've never been exposed, especially when they ask questions in such a way that indicates they want to learn. I only make fun of those who deserve it; like those who have a history of thinking they know *everything*, and then arrogantly correct others. For example, the person who told me that you have to have a rooster to get eggs. She's been *everywhere*, done *everything*, and is an expert at *everything*. Can't tell her nuthin', so I don't try. She even comes from a country background so should know better. So, when I got my girls to get eggs and she pompously came up with the rooster proclaimation, I took great pleasure in pretending she was telling me something I didn't know. Won't she be surprised when I get eggs? When she comes sniffing around for freebies (trust me, she will, too) I think I'll tell her these are only hollow eggs ... no rooster, ya know.

Besides, how do you NOT laugh at someone who says, "I don't trust anything natural", or "Ewwwww. I only eat eggs that come from the grocery store!" or "Milk comes from cartons."? I mean, come on. It's so stupid, it's funny. But, if it truly offends your sensibilities, you have options ...

Ummm...Don't all eggs have a yolk?.. why would'nt a small one? And, yes, they are too cute !
It is so small I don't think anything else would fit. I candled it too, just to see and I didn't see any recognizable yolk shadow. Even if it did have a yolk it would be miniscule. I couldn't figure out a good way to crack it either. It seems like the impact wouldn't quite hit hard enough to break, and I don't have one of those things on the end of my slicer. Oh well, it would take like ten of these to make a normal egg anyways, so I couldn't even use it!

look up 'fart egg' or 'wind egg' most do not have yolks, some do- have fun learning.

It is usually extra egg material that got 'wrapped' by the shell mechanism separately of the normal egg... they are not dangerous.

I love that term "Fart Egg"...

Although if it did have a yoke it would make a great garnish. I think a serving of pasta carbonara with one or two of these(fried) and some fresh basil on top would be adorable.

I actually did some research on fart (I like that name better, immature me) eggs when another user mentioned it. Very interesting...

I think that this was the hens first egg (happened to a few of my pullets) too. She is laying normal eggs now, although they are still small (d'Anver, what can I say). I would still love to experience another chicken fart *tee-hee*.

Well..the "fart" egg is interesting and perhaps, some chickens do not lay eggs with a yolk, for various reasons...just never heard of that before ! Who knew ?
