I had a neighbor ask do you have ant extra eggs I said of course with 40 hens go figure. So she asks what do you do with them. I sell them. Oh how much ? 2.00 a dozen. She says omg that is so expensive. WHAT!!!!! organic free range eggs in the store are 5.00 a dozen. Regular eggs are 2.00 a dozen. She tells me that I can't sell them as free range because I put them in the coop at night. Mind you during the day they range over 3 acres of land. Drives me nuts. Ok end rant
Just ignore her comments ...obviously

I live just up the road from you by Saluda. There are some strange ideas floating around these days.

Have y'all had more hawks and eagles around this year. I have been fighting hawks and bald eagles this year for the first time. And have had chickens for 4 years. Just curious

Thankfully I have 2 amazing roosters they sound off the alarm and I go running out with my bb gun. I have had to tag the hawks a few times not to kill them just scare them away but never have I had this problem. I even have 2 nest in my wood line. I can't figure out why now.

X2
In a poll on this site, out of 4000 people that said what predators they had trouble with, only 16 said eagles. That's less than 1% and it's possible they misidentified the culprit.
I imagine if and eagle is very very hungry, it may kill anything to eat.

I use bottle rockets for hawks. I haven't lost a bird to hawks when I have a Black Penedesenca rooster with each flock. I have lost a few meaties in a separate flock.

I imagine any animal would do whatever to eat but the eagles and fish make sense because they showed up about a week after restocking the pond but the hawks have been all winter long. My geese were trying to attacked one that landed in my yard as I was trying to get outside. That thing was huge
