I don't understand that. Hard shell and all. Lol
why should that be so far fetched? Plenty of animals fertilize after eggs are laid, to my knowledge it's mostly aquatic animals but I certainly don't know all the animals that work that way.

As to the hard shells, they are still permeable. Doesn't seem far fetched to me.

Eggshells are not THAT permeable. There is no way a spermatozoan can penetrate it.

And if you don't know whether or not that is true it seems reasonable to think that eggs could be fertilized after being laid.

Ok. Good for you.

I had a gentleman ask me if the rooster fertilized the egg after the chicken laid it!  He has chickens, but no rooster.

I had a FARMER that raised chickens (and had roosters) tell me that when I was a young wife and mom. Until joining this forum a few months ago that is what I thought they did. She called it scratching. She said when a rooster scratches, the egg becomes fertilized. Wish I had really thought about the biology that I had studied in high school and college of her statement!!! Oh well, you live and you learn.

i grow beet for my dad but i have never liked them

That's why there are so many types of vegetables out there! Lol! There are bound to be some that each person doesn't like. I love Japanese eggplant, but don't care for the larger, more abundant version, too bitter for me. That's why I grow my own every year. I have to have them for Eggplant in Garlic sauce! So yummy!

I try to at least give each veggie I don't like a try every so often, just to see if my palate has changed.
