Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat

when I cracked them open, I look for the germinal disk. If it's just a white dot, it is infertile. If there is a pattern of concentric white and darker yellow circles (like a bullseye with the white as the center dot) then it is fertile. I was unable to get a picture due to the glare. There's a thread around here though.

Thanks! Clicked on the link you forwarded and it looks pretty easy to tell.

OMG, I was telling a lady at work the other day that I'll be getting chickens this summer and plan to have lots and lots of eggs.  I told her I'd bring some in for her so that she can taste how much better they are.

Know what she said?

Her: "Oh my GAWD, eeeeeewwwwww, I could never eat those eggs!"

Me: "Ummmm, why not?

Her: "Well, BECAUSE, they came out of a chicken's butt!"

Me: "Ummmmm.  Huh?  You eat eggs from the store, right?"

Her: "Well, yeah, of COURSE, but that's different!"

Me: "How is that different?  Those eggs also came out of a chicken."

Her: "But those are all sanitary and come in a box."

Me: "I'll wash my eggs and box them for you too."

Her: "Blech, no way.  I could never eat eggs from your chickens.  That's just gross."

Me: "***?"

WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?!

LOL, this is just too much.  No wonder I want to quit my job and become a pioneer woman and never have to leave the house...

Lol!!!!! I feel ya. I told a friend that once the chickens made new chckens to replace them id eat a few and she could have one. And she was like "a dead chicken that's disgusting!" And I was like it's actually better than the ones that you get at the store because I know exactly what I'm feeding it and it doesn't have arsenic in its food, it's 100% organic. She still thought it was the nastiest thing she had ever heard but that just means more chicken for me

Or she will just stop eating chicken altogether. I have never seen such horrors as when I looked at videos of industrialized production of meat. Sickening.

It actually was a good thing though, because it galvanized me into action. I now only purchase meat and poultry from local sources that have been investigated by me personally. Still trying to find fish that I'm comfortable eating. Wild caught is good, but I still question it because I live in AZ. Lol!.

Isn't it strange? People are so distant from their sources of food these days, and I include myself in that category to some degree, but I'm trying to change it.
