Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat

You have just described a whole lot of the more extreme animal rights organizations. One animals rights organization in California "rescued" a herd of dairy goats. They didn't know anything whatever about dairy goats and wouldn't listen to anyone who did. They used general anesthisia to milk the lactating animals, and for some reason thought the goats needed daily baths. Within a year they managed to kill off the herd. Some died of pneumonia from baths, some died of complications from the anesthesia, and the rest starved to death because these idiots didn't know what and how much to feed the goats and refused to learn.

HOLY...That really saddens me. :(

I wish I could say it surprises me, but it doesn't. There was a story recently in the paper about a vegan couple that almost killed their kitten by feeding it a vegan diet.

Oh, I've met a vegan family who had 2 cats and refused to give them cat food because it was processed and refused to cook them anything with meat because they were vegans. I asked them why get cats and not an herbivore as pets. Poor kittys...

Where did they get the authority to *rescue* these animals? Sounds more like theft to me.

Ok, I HAVE to share this one that I just got just now on another forum I frequent discussing how I raise chickens for meat and eggs:

"whats wrong with you why can't you just buy them fresh or frozen you sound like a heartless killer beatiful chicks u want eggs from and at some pt kill em to eat..go to kentucky popeyes mary browns swiss chalet..I think your a sicko."

That's because no chickens are harmed in producing the "meat" for those places. They mix it up in a lab, shape it and call it "chicken".

I got a comment--sadly, from a member of this community--that left me shaking my head.

BYC recently used one of my photos for a headline, and it was posted on their FB page as well. This is the photo in question:

One woman commented on Facebook, "Roo has the worst squirrel tail I have ever seen. That one is a cull."

The amount of presumption in her comment nearly made my head spin. She was trying to sound smart by pointing out that the rooster has a physical trait that isn't desirable in certain breeds of chicken. However, since the rooster is a mutt to begin with, "Squirrel Tail" is irrelevant. It doesn't affect his health or behavior, so why would we cull for it? Gryffindor is the best rooster we've ever had (and we have had a lot of them!) He watches over the flock, protects his girls, breaks up fights between other roosters, and alerts his flock mates to food and potential threats. His offspring are some of the sweetest, prettiest, and healthiest mutts around. Not only will I not be culling this rooster, I'll be keeping him for the duration of his natural life.

Besides, my entire family is in consensus that his "squirrel tail" is magnificent. WE happen to like it, thank you very much! (*end indignant rant*)

FB people can tend to be hateful with their comments. I don't go there very much at all.

I think he is a beautiful rooster! I have a mutt, and he is a really good roo.

It's better for your mental health not to take such comments so personally. Frankly, the *squirrel tail* crack is more incriminating of the author than of the roo. When passing judgment like this, the person is revealing to the entire world their arrogance and feelings of insecurity. The only thing to do in such instances is to comment, "If this were a show bird, his tail shape might matter. But, since Gryffindor is a working roo, who is exceptionally good at his job btw, your assessment is without merit". Maybe they won't be so quick to post judgments on FB in the future. In the meantime, do what I do; avoid FB and insecure people. FB is crawling with them, which is why most of them are on there in the first place.

That will be $75, please.

I looked at the photo before reading the commentary. In fact i enlarged it to get a good look at the beautiful rooster. I'm envious wish i had one that looked that proud.

The airhead who made that snide Facebook comment doesn't have a clue.
