I always love going to the fair and looking at the chickens. It cracks me up when you hear city people say, "Oh look, that chicken laid an egg!" Shocking, huh?

I dunno. Whenever we go to the auction and we're checking out the Chickie Darlings before (so I can decide what I do and do not want), whenever we see an egg in with a hen, I'm always like "Hey, look! An egg!" It's less

awe. They will lay anywhere, whenever the time comes.

You're in Raritan? I was just there last month. DH had a business trip and the kids and I tagged along.

When I was a kid and a teenager and saw an egg at the fair I'd comment oh there's breakfast! some of those poor younger 4-H kids where afraid I was going to open the cage and get the egg out and let loose the hen, I knew better and enjoyed the panicked look on some of their faces and the older kids and the leaders always told them yes he does this every year and is pulling your leg.
edited to say I can't wait till this gets to 1000 threads....

The only other joke (other then the obvious) answer I have heard to that is "Because it was a little fowl."

I was wondering if anyone knew any better or could come with better.

MsBagawkbagawk - I have lived in Colorado for 14 years and just saw my first grasshopper here, it was huge. I think mine might cross to get away from the grasshopper. ;)
