The Salem witches were hanged, not burned at the stake. A common misconception. But, 2 of the unfortunate souls are ancestors of mine, with a third an accuser, Mary Walcott. Margaret Scott was one victim, a widow woman who was hanged with the last group (September 22, 1692) before the elders thought better of the idea. Forgot who the other was.

My kids once remarked, "We always knew you were a witch". To which I replied, "So, what does that make you?"

DW was at physical therapy the other day and the therapist (supposedly an educated person) insisted if you didn't have a roo in your flock one of the hens would change sex to meet the shortfall.

I had a small flock of game birds. 1 rooster and 6 hens. Well, we had to cull the rooster. One of the hens took over, and actually started crowing! Things also got chaotic in the flock of hens. They ganged up on the rest of them and actually killed one. Now we have one game hen left. OEGB's. Half wild. Had been running wild on a local mans property for probably about 35 years now.

It was interesting to watch those flock dynamics.

Wonder how anyone could never have seen at least a picture or cartoon with a rooster? Corn flakes Cornelius, Foghorn leghorn?

But chickens and turkeys do have parthenogenesis…chicken embryos don't make it to hatch, but the turkeys do!
