Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat

You mean when you grew up the fridge was locked and you couldn't look in it? and you where not allowed in the kitchen if someone was cooking, like there was an armed guard at the door. I see your point about not letting the kids run the house but when growing up I was in the kitchen and was in the fridge anytime I wanted, to say there was no way they would know what color the egg shells where unless they are cooking is foolish....

Of course not. Where did that come from?

I'm thinking of the typical kid who looks in the fridge (just like *I* did, and my own children did) for something to eat - right now - not using a critical eye to assess the kind of eggs/butter/milk/brand of bread one's mother bought. But, I assure you I didn't dictate to my parents what kind of eggs were purchased and, if it was put on the table for dinner, I was expected to eat it. No catering to my silly whims, which was my entire point. Sorry you missed it.

What's "foolish" is that someone would allow their children to be closed minded about the color of egg that's IN the fridge, and to let that closed mindedness influence their purchasing decisions!

Ditto!!!

Have they seen this video?
Compare it to "dirty" free range eggs..

I am so heart broken and crying I could not even finish watching this. You know people are the worst things on this planet we take for granted that animals need to be treated kindly even if they are a source of food. My girls are spoiled they are not as spoiled as some but more than others. I hope that these people and I use the word loosely have a special cage in hell waiting for them. I don't understand how they can sleep at night and not have that haunt them.

You can buy them directly from the farms here in New Zealand I don't like paying the farm($3.50 Per Hen) but I do love having the girls they are goofy little sweet hearts with a load of personality. Maybe you could go to a smaller farm and ask if the have any they would sell. the ones i got were around one year old when i got them (thats when they go to slaughter)
Wait.... What's this about ramen noodles?? I don't eat that stuff but sometimes my kids do for a snack. I dont get the link between the factory hens n noodles. Please explain that one cuz if it's as bad as I think I'll NEVER buy them again. :-(

This little "gem" was in amongst the videos on youtube about the horrors of egg production farms... At one point the guy giving the tour says "To be honest, our chickens are healthier than those backyard chickens..."

Man thats bull S*** one of the hens I got from an egg farm had a broken leg.... he carried all 3 out by their legs! I found out later that she had probably had a broken leg for a long time, and that even when a cellmate (hen) dies they don't often notice it and it remains in the cage for a fair amount of time. sorry this is off topic.... but I guess its still a common misconception (dumb thing) people who buy the eggs from these places seem to ignore or just not know what goes on behind their 'clean' store brought eggs!

Live long BYC!!!!!!

Well, To answerer the dumbest question regarding eggs, chickens, etc.
Was from a person who complained that Organic cost more than conventional produce and could not understand why people would pay more (We were in a Farmers Market !!!!!!).
I think that with the information available on the web that this would be a no brainer.
I don't mind explaining the reason that Organic cost more.
What " frost my chaps" is when people have a choice and complain that Organic cost more.
The last time I checked, we still live in a country where we can choose the food we purchase.
BTW That video is exactly why we raise our birds in a method referred as "beyond organic".

I'm sorry guys, I didn't mean to upset anybody. It breaks my heart too. I talk to kids sometimes, and recommend some more humane egg brands, and tell them how horribly the poor sweet little chickies are treated and they say "So, it's just a chicken". If this was happening to dogs, people would go CRAZY, and say "how is this legal?" But of course, the media has made chickens out like they are dumb and mean, so nobody really takes much notice. I'm sure if people could understand chickens, they would end this horrific cruelty. BWT, sadly, yes, many canned soups and packaged broth comes from these poor girls. Their bodies are too bruised and scraped to be dresses like a normal chicken, so they have to be disguised. Once again, I hope l don't upset anyone, I kinda sugarcoated it so if you are a little sensitive (it's okay, I am too, so the truth was hard to face...) you won't get TOTALLY freaked out.
