My sister told me another silly one. Apparently, her nutrition teacher believes that there's a breed of chicken that only lays eggs without yolks for people that are on low-cholesterol diets.

Neighbor was over after I tilled a couple of rows cor corn. The hens were all over the fresh earth pickin out worms. We just stopped and watched the birds eating them up like they had discovered the best treat on the planet. After that they get excited to see me preping to till.
Oh heck yeah, and they probably think you're doing it just for them too, right?

Quote: Had I not known it was a silky I would have thought there was something wrong with it. Since I am not use to seeing non-white fleshed chicken, I would have to cook it rather quick not a few days from no for fear I would not know what to look for if I had not remembered when I put it in the fridge and possibly spoil....

I can't believe people EAT silkies! They are so small!!

People eat quail

I think a silkie is about as big as a cornish game hen, so for just 2 it is a good size. Yep, I think I would also need a beer to get in the right frame of mind to eat one. They are prized by some Asian cultures.

It's just a color. Same as the eggs are just a color.

I think even I would be hard pressed to eat black chicken even knowing what I know..........LOL I'll take the quail, pheasant, or grouse any day, even Cornish game hens look appetizing.......tho small.
