Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat

They may have heard the story but not realized the little red hen was a chicken.  I currently know a woman, studying avian biology no less, who thinks ducks and geese are not birds. There is currently an animated cartoon on television the main character of which is a bull with a fully developed udder.  So anything is possible.  Personally, I would really like to meet the genius who drew the udder on that bull. There are several things to be seen on the underside of a bull, but an udder full of milk certainly is not one of them.

I think I know exactly what cartoon you are talking about and I cannot/will not watch it because it just bothers me SO much. I saw it before I was into the whole farm thing and I still knew it was wrong lol

we have people, especially family members, laugh at us because we enjoy sitting and watching our chickens.......I guess they think we are wierd????? we sure enjoy it though

Could not agree more!

Actually, for a long time I had a closed circuit television in set up in my barn. This was before video cams were so readily available and someone gave me this TV camera. It broadcasted to an old TV in the living room we hooked it up to. It was very entertaining. Much better than what was on the regular TV.

Gracie (mother) is really thin. i guess its because of the size of the litter. i'm thinking of getting some biljack (spelling) to feed her unless someone tells me different. any suggestions? some will be red and some will be blue like her. they get their colors later on - like dalmations.
she needs to be fed puppy food while nursing since puppy food is high calorie. She is far too skinny to be nursing that many puppies. Looks like a good mama though.

Quote: i guess i havent gave you all an update on this, she has kept 12 puppies so far. the one was stillborn and the runt didnt make it. we have been giving her a high fat diet as recommended from our vet - kidney tallow, puppy chow, all the fatty trimmings when we eat, and any fatty leftovers. yesterday she enjoyed about 4 lbs of homemade chicken noodles. i have been adding eggs on my own, for the energy and to help her along. she is still thin but has put on a descent amount of weight. ill take some more pictures tomorrow.
she has amazed me with something though, i have never seen a mother dog do this. when she feeds, she separates the puppies into 2 groups. they are gaining weight well for that size of litter. ill try to catch her feeding when i take the pictures.
