But the friend asked about breasts like humans (ie- functioal for feeding babies) so yes they have breasts just not like humans

Friend of mine asked me why I don't teach my chickens to sit and stay like a dog. I told her they were chickens not puppies. Her response was that all pets should be trained to obey commands... I told her fine. When she trains her goldfish to sit and stay I'll train my chicks

I know exactly what you mean, chicken training seems to end at "here's the water and food" lol

Saying that, your goldfish comment reminded me of this video hahahaha I had to share it.

I first watched that video and all I could say was "what?!...get outta here" hahaha

I have done really well and not said a dumb thing about my chickens lately, but chicken math has really got it's grip lol

Actually, it is not hard to teach chickens tricks if you are so inclined. I don't know about sit and stay, but I have seen them play a toy piano. You use a technique called operant conditioning, or clicker training. Look up B F. Skinner.

Here's a dumb chicken related question for you: Friends of our's DD (11yo) asked me the other day if hens have breasts, like humans and mammals do. Now, keep in mind they've had chickens for about 4 months now and have a broody hen busy raising chicks... You'd think if the kid would've noticed the hen wasn't nursing the chicks?

Chickens have pectoral muscles. They are called breasts simply because of the location (chest). Humans have pectoral muscles too, but what we call breasts in humans are mammary glands which, under the right conditions, produce milk. Pectoral muscles never produce milk. You might explain that distinction to your daughter's friend
