Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat

Or she will just stop eating chicken altogether. I have never seen such horrors as when I looked at videos of industrialized production of meat. Sickening.

It actually was a good thing though, because it galvanized me into action. I now only purchase meat and poultry from local sources that have been investigated by me personally. Still trying to find fish that I'm comfortable eating. Wild caught is good, but I still question it because I live in AZ. Lol!.

If you think the tyson vid was bad check out this new undercover video that was released 2 days ago. Even removing the cruelty aspect, it makes me question the wisdom of dumping so many birds and leaving them to rot. Just from a resource perspective i would think turning them into dog or cat food would be preferable to wasting the meat. Getting back on track of the topic, i would venture a guess that the most common dumb remark about chickens would be the sheer ignorance of how commercial agriculture works. My grandmother, who should know better, freaked out when i harvested one of my turkies and brought it over to her house to cook. It was a month after thanksgiving and it was for a family reunion. The turkey was seasoned and ready to stick in the oven so it wasn't like feathers, blood, and guts were everywhere. She didn't calm down until i reminded her that she had cooked a butterball turkey a few weeks prior without panicing and they were treated far worse than one before her.

It was in reference to the person who replaced his flock with store-bought as opposed to hatching his own (as he had hens + roos galore). My thought was perhaps he likes to get his chicks w/vaccinations for Mareks done.... Kind of like getting a puppy that has had all its shots vs. getting one that's not. It could just be a peace of mind thing.

I'm not sure I can watch that video, just the still picture makes me ill.

It's easy enough to vaccinate them yourself. If someone with such a needle problem as me can manage it, everyone should be able to.

Most likely the guy just doesn't want to deal with chicks and raising them.

Absolute proof to not trust Yahoo answers........

I had another woman try to make me understand about how the rooster - hen relationship theory works. she insists that a hen cannot lay an egg if she is not with a rooster.

I explained that my roosters are in a bachelor pen when I am not collecting eggs to hatch. She actually said, " are you so stupid that you don't realize the roosters get out of the cage while you are at work and visit the hens?"

HELP!

Haha steal some quotes; do females need a male to ovulate?
