In most states there is a law on the books that states that a product must be suitable for the purpose for which it was intended. Moldy feed is not suitable. If this happens again stand your ground and insist they make it right. I once bought an electric dehorner that gave me a shock the first time I tried to use it. I took it back and the little sweetie behind the desk insisted it was my responsibility to return it to the manufacturer for repairs. I told her, no, it was her responsibility to give me a new one. I talked to the manager and much to her chagrin, I walked out with a new dehorner.

So, I'm just chillin' with my chickens and loving life in general when my sister calls me today and asks me to not come to my niece's baby shower next week (she's having twins!) without showering and changing clothes and shoes at my mom's house beforehand. I live about an hour away from them, but they all live in the same town. I ask why and she says she was talking to a friend of hers about me owning chickens and the friend told her that chickens can transmit some fatal disease to unborn babies. What?

I told her to call my niece's doctor and ask about that...

My neighbor threw away a whole carton of green shelled eggs because they where "moldy". He didn't know that chickens could lay green shelled eggs!

LOL Been hearing this often lately. I don't know if I've ever seen a moldy egg. Smelled a rotten egg, sure. But had no idea they'd turn such a pretty green if they're moldy. ;-) haha
I wonder what people will say about my olive eggs?

That is just silly!

Cat boxes can cause problems but not chickens!

I would not give them any eggs ever. NO EGGS FOR YOU!

Do you really want to trust that doc to not be a total city slicker and recommend that you disinfect at your mom's house??
