I kinda like the idea of sending a gift card and having a paper band around it saying "Sanitized for your protection."
Excellent suggestion. Or, if she's forced into going, she could place such a band around herself.

That's a great idea, thanks!
I'm used to the drama, it never ends around there. That's one of the reasons I live waaaayyyyyy out in the boonies, I never have to worry about being asked to host those things. ;-)
Hens lay the egg and the roosters sits on the egg to hatch it...... I just said ok and went on with my own buisness.
A neighbor came up the drive very early this morning wanting to know if i minded if he hunted rabbits on my land. They are descendants of someones released pets so no hunting season. When he seen my chickens he asked if i had extra eggs.
I told him "No the large chickens are only 10 weeks old and the two little ones are only six weeks old".
He then said "So when they are a couple weeks older will they be laying more than the two eggs at a time".
I think the guy actually meant that the older 10 week old chickens only laid a clutch of two eggs among them, and hatched out the younger ones...but by that math (which most people are not aware of the numbers) the older chicks were one week old when they laid their clutch of two eggs.Wish I had some of those kind of chicken! Mine only lay one egg a day!

Edited to Add: it took me a few seconds to work out exactly what that guy was thinking to have said that.
