Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat

I have a cousin who said something similar. It was "why do you work taking care of chickens when the eggs are cheap in the grocery store". She also has a gym membership she never uses and eats at high end restaurants 4-5 times per week.
Egg prices will be going up so they are not going to stay cheap.

Gym membership is crazy!

My DW went to breakfast on Sunday and complained that the eggs Benedict tasted terrible compared to what I prepare and that the prices were very high.

Why bother going out to eat Breakfast when there is a high quality breakfast maker in the back yard?

But... food comes from the grocery store. It does spontaneously regenerate in the shelves doesn't it?

Of course not. Food spontaneously regenerates in warehouses. That's why you see all of those semi-tractor trucks with grocery store and food logos on the highway. Now pay
attention, people, if food regenerated in the grocery store, they wouldn't need those trucks. So, obviously, it must regenerate at the warehouse....... you have to learn how to apply the scientific method.

Actually, if one has chickens, one doesn't need a gym membership. There is the biddy lift and restrain; the biddy chase, the manure mover, the compost turner, the house cleaner, and the squat clean and refill of the feeders. Lots of exercise.

Obviously, Fluffnpuff's cousin wouldn't need a gym if she just kept chickens.

Oh, my bad. I posted about the back room before I read your very wise post about warehouses. I guess I didn't think it through well enough.

On a side note: I'm working on refi-ing my house and the guys I'm working with are down in ATL. I'm converting them to the natural, organic way of living. They now want me to send instructions on how to grow fresh sprouts. I know it's easy, but I'm happy to do it. They've got to start somewhere.

Don't forget the egg transport/carry and the 50 lb feed bag lift.

When the first batch went into the incubator in late February, I weighed 92kg. One chicken coop and compost construction project later plus chicken maintenance for four months after them hatching, I now weigh 83 kg. I can warmly recommend it as a good alternative to going to a gym.
