Someone looking over my meat roosters which I mentioned I would be butchering soon.
"You're going to butcher them all now, at this size?"
"Yes"
"All of them as chicken?"
"Um... yeah? They're ready."
"You should let a few grow out to turkey for Thanksgiving, though."
I swear, this is not actually a dumb man. He has a successful career in engineering and is a carpentry and mechanical whiz. I was at a loss for how he thought that was how chicken/turkey meat 'worked'. After a brief conversation where he mentioned chicken was like 'veal' and turkey was like 'beef', I think we figured out that he was wrongly remembering the 'Cornish Game Hen' vs. 'Chicken' labeling system.
