I think that's why most of us joined BYC. We never bore of chicken talk or chicken things. Others will never really understand.
Boy, you got that right sunflour!

Is the chicken really posing in a santa hat or is this a photo shop pic?
I'm not sure, it's a picture I found online. I have chickens that look like this one but trying to get a hat on one of them? No chance, lol.

I would have been one of those who knew next to nothing a little over a year ago.

Once we decided to get chickens I started to do some research to be prepared for it and I was blown away by how interesting and captivating these birds are! Now I can't imagine my life without them and there's probably only one person I know in real life who understands everything I say about chickens.

I'm still learning, can't get enough knowledge about and experience with them, they're awesome.

Exactly! I'm so grateful this forum is here and for all of the fantastic people here who are willing to share their knowledge and experiences, it's been immensely helpful to me as a new chicken keeper. Thanks to all of you!!

Nice!

I don't think you're odd. If anything ever happens to my sweetie I already know I'm done with the whole "looking for love" thing. Found it once, and that's enough for me.

Good for you. If you've found the *right* one once, be content with that. Don't mess up the experience by risking finding the same a second time. You'd probably only end up comparing them, and that's not constructive. In spite of what others say or think, being alone isn't a bad thing; if you like who you are, you can be very good company for yourself.

I had a guy at walmart tell me they only needed to eat cracked corn. Thats all he fed his chickens.
And bet he would have gotten quite angry if you tried to offer friendly advice.

It's funny to me, that so many old timers I meet get real excited when they find out I have chickens and tell me about growing up with the chickens. Many have great stories to tell, but many also remember the chickens had funny looking legs…and all they fed them was cracked corn and some table scraps….guess why their chickens had brittle drumsticks?
