That's right. Not fat. Just big boned. Actually, she's all feathers. She can molt like nobody's business and you can't even tell.

Visibly soiled eggs (poop caked on) get fed back to the birds. Little imperfections get washed off before use like you said above.
Oh, I've got a good one. I'm a city dweller with just a few hens in my backyard. I'm out back w/ them and I hear the doorbell ring. And I've got on my garden clogs (don't wear those in the house) and I'm thinking, I'll never get through the house to answer the door in time, so I dash towards the back gate. And my BIG Buff Orpington (7lbs) is chasing after me, like, Mom, don't leave me Mom, I want attention.
So I scoop her up into my arms and walk around to the front of the house. There stands a salesmen who's eyes get really big and he says, "WOAH, Is that a goose?"
Seriously?!? I know she's big and all but a goose she most certainly is not!
Kills me that some people can't tell a horse from a pig and a chicken from a goose. These are the same people that don't realize that milk comes from a cow and not a carton from the store.
If that were true, I'd buy it from there as wellyes I buy all my meat from the store where they make it so no animals get hurt. lol
I tell everyone they aren't washed lol. I get a lot of "Why are your eggs on the counter, what if they get e.coli?" So I explain the bloom and it's magical powers.I used to say none of mine were soiled but sometimes they do have a good layer (no pun intended) of poo on them. Like sometimes someone will poop in there. Or walk over some and then over some eggs with that foot. Ick. The caked on poo eggs go to the girls. The ones with little specks get washed in plain water. The rest don't get washed at all. No one has ever even known to ask me if they are washed and I just keep my mouth shut about it.
ThanksAwwwwwww, he's ADORABLE!!!!

Thought I'd share this picture of my nephew with you guys. He was over this weekend, and we bought him a used chicken costume. You should have seen him lay an egg. It was priceless.
