Dumor Feed

Is this feed any good? I am starting to question it. My hens have recently started picking each other's feathers with gusto and I think it may be the quality of the feed. They are not hot or overcrowded and I supplement with black oil sunflower seeds. I have read a few negative posts outside of BYC about Dumor and was wondering what you all thought?

Unless y'all tell me I am nuts, I think I will try Purina.

BTW, they are on the layer pellets.

I am using Dumor right now, and my girls seem alright. I wasn't able to get Egg Maker, so I had to buy this. I've used it before with no problems. Maybe its just me?

I been using the laying pellets for over a year with no problems,my gold comets seem to be doing very well on it

There is a lot of opinions on this food. I used Purina for a long time & had the same picking problems. I thought someone also stated that Dumor is actually made by Purina. IMHO 16% protein is just too low, but it is hard around here to find higher. If you feed other things then the protein % drops more. I have switched to an 18% game bird breeder with animal protein and it has helped somewhat. Once they get picking, it's hard to stop them.

my girls LOVE it but not the pellets - the crumbles. in fact we just got a bag of some other brand from the nearby feed store - and they hate it. and the egg production has gone down. so we drove the 20 miles to TSC and got another dumor bag so everyone is happy.

do you free range them at all?? give them grass or hay?

I used to use it, but didn't care for it myself. I noticed that my chickens poo smelled worse when they were on it and they didn't lay as well. I have switched them over the the Purina Layena and have gotten much better results.

I ran out of my regular feed that I have been giving my birds from day one and my feed store was closed so I went to TSC and bought the smallest bag of their Dumore feed. I may be crazy but when I filled their feeders with it they didn't seem to eat it too well. It lasted a lot longer than their regular feed.

I have no issues with Dumor at all. I've recently switched all of my birds over to gamebird starter, but have fed Dumor layer and starter for at least a year now with no problems.

Mine also free-range 100% of the time, so that could make up for any diet deficencies (I can't spell) they may have.
