That is AWESOME!!!! They just don't make furniture like they use to. I'd much rather get a nice solid peice of beat up wood and refab it than buy what's out there new today. Great job!!!!!

Mugmagee -- so pretty! I'd love to repurpose furniture! I haven't ever done it. We have an old rocking chair in the basement that I'd like to redo. It's sturdy and in great condition -- structurally. Needs to be stripped and either stained or painted. It was free, though! I'm kinda leaning towards painting it, since I'd like to add some color to my living room. I already have enough wood in there and my couch is brown.

Hubby found a 20 or 25 gal fish tank with everything in it minus the light hood. Worked really nice so far! Got it for $25.00. Sometimes it pays to go to thrift stores!

My aunt found a couple of Saladmaster skillet and some pans, paid $20 which on Ebay, they sell for $20 or better EACH. Even the dutch oven, they run into hundreds of dollars while I got it for $50. Sometimes people are ignorant about the brand names and sell them to get them OUT of the store.

Still looking for a wooden card table, I mean solid wood that can be folded down and transport for camping and reenactments. So far, not been lucky yet.

Oh the REAL lucky find is that hubby found a beautiful pineapple SOLID oak head and foot bed frame. He lugged it for a block and set it outside for me to inspect. I was so impressed and could not figure out why someone wants to throw out the bed frame like that! The only thing wrong with it is someone tried to wrench the metal frame out of the oak foot, breaking or cracking and hubby fixed it up and it still standing for three years (yep, it stood the test of "frolic" too!). I would not trade that bed frame for anything.

My grandmother has a friend that buys storage units and what he doesn't want he sits outside his fence for a day before he takes what's left to the dump. We stopped by yesterday to say hi and they happened to be unloading the truck. I came home with 2 huge garbade bags full of fleece scraps of all sizes. First thing i thought was DOG TOYS!!! but I am headed back to post asking for more ideas

We clean apartments and often have to trash them out when people move so we find cool stuff all the time. someone is coming today to buy a table we brought home yesterday.

I started going to estate auctions and sales. It's a little morbid because most of the time someone has passed away, and it's weird going through someone's home like a scavenger, but it is a great way to find deals. At one I found a gorgeous European village scene water color painting that I purchased for $20 and had it appraised for $250. At that same sale I scored a set beyond all sets of Denby pottery. You don't know pottery until you know Denby. I bought 8 teacups, 20 saucers, 8 crocks with lids (perfect for chili and french onion soup) and they fit on the saucers, a sugar bowl, creamer, serving platter, huge salad bowl, and 2 soup bowls...all in immaculate condition, in timeless neutral colors of light coffee and ebony, all for $20!!!!
Same estate sale I bought an antique walnut sewing table with the burnt in ruler marks on the top, and drop spindle legs (not the type with the sewing machine built in) for $10. Had it appraised at $175. These are the things I love to come across. I'm a big furniture junkie, and love pottery and art, and lucked out on getting all three in one place.
