Dumpster Diving-Garage Sale-Goodwill-Thrift Store & Craigslist Finds

I just got rough milled cedar lumber 35 boards that were a minimum of 11 foot long by 8 inches wide and 1 inch thick plus one 16" wide by 8' for $30. Jumped on it. Now I have to decide what to use it for. Too many possibilites. A lot of it when planed down will be furniture grade.

Not that it was a dumpster dive, but look what I got today...

Mamma duck was hit by a car and these little guys were with her body when a good Samaritan found them. They were fed bread for 3-4 days over the weekend and I picked them up from another re-habber. They are drinking and eating real food now and I think they will be OK.

That is awesome... I wish I could find that kind of deal around here.

I lived in New Jersey for a year. There aren't a whole lot of people logging timber off their own land. That is the only reason we have that type of deal around here. :) I'm pretty sure this one was available because the wife got tired of the lumber being stored under the awning over her front porch.

We lived in Lumberton/Mt. Holly area. Beautiful country.

I am a bit of an urban prospector. I hit the second hand stores and yard sales looking for gold and silver. The best score was a pair of Odd Fellow cuff links that I sold in October for $380. I paid 50 cent apiece for them. They were real heavy and marked "Black Hills" but no markings for gold content.

Sun City is a great place to buy stuff. Old people move over there, and then when they die their kids come from back east and sell everything cheap and fast. They want to get back to their real lives.

What is junk back east is antiques here. You can't buy real furniture here, it is all pressed wood and plastic.

Cars are real bargains there. Those old people seem to always buy big nice cars that never seem to leave the garage. They run around the neighborhood in those golf carts instead.

My wife thinks I am a real ghoul, but she still takes the money.

Good heavens! That's a sad thing to hear, but at least they're in good hands now. They look happy and well cared for.

I bought 15 gallon yard sprayer with 12v pump at an auction for $10. Going to put it in the yard trailer that I bought for $14. Brand new the pair would cost close to $500!
