Dun Laced?

Lol, well, of course you can remove it by breeding to black and selecting away from it, but that simply didn't make sense after making hte effort to breed it in. Yes, I agree that khaki would contrast better with red than would chocolate. However, chocolate would probably pair better with buff than would khaki.

Yep, that's true, you could get rid of it I guess if you did that, but like you said, what's the point of that,

YEP AND AGREE THE DUN WOULD LOOK BEST ON THE BUFF AS WELL

Okay new question, im going to start working on a recreation of the Ohiki longtail bantam, i decided that most of my breeding stock will be buff colored, but i was thinking that a dun laced bird would be cool. So im working with Phoenix's with Bantam Buff Orps and Cochins, i would consider wyandottes because i know they come in dun laced.

Better make sure your Buff birds actually have the dun gene, and sure, you can work at it. . . .

The pictured Cochin does not have dun lacing. Dun lacing means the bird has little to no black, but instead dun/brown coloration replacing it in the form of true lacing, which cannot be created by crossing blue to something else. That bird there looks like it has blue as well, but is mainly a partridge or duckwing based color.

Blue on a dun bird will actually dilute the dun color down to a "khaki" appearance. A sort of sooty pale greyish brown color.

Funny you came along and speaking of similarities, Brazilian Gamefowl DO have the dun gene.

But, that bird there is a Splash-Laced Red. (or white, but it looks splash to me)

Blue laced red

very light blue; I have some that are darker but not on the red

Illia, try this one on:

Powder-buff blue laced red.
