Dunking Chickens in water to cool them off?

We have a friend who says his chickens dunk their whole head into a pan of water to cool off. Now DH wants me to get our chickens to do it too.

I provide them with cold drinking water, shade, dust bath sand, and frozen milk jugs placed around the run. The few days that I gave them some water to stand in, they didn't want anything to do with it. So I doubt very seriously that they're going to "learn" to dunk their heads. Anyone ever heard of this before?

https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=207530Look at my waterer... its $10 in 10 minutes and it is the best idea yet for keeping the chickens cool and fresh water every day. I do put the hose in the shade to keep the water from getting too hot.
