Dust bath? help!

We have a banty that "trills" (purrs?) all the time. The others have started doing it now, too!

Apparently dust baths make chickens feel very clean!! I think besides the mites, it may also do something to their feathers (to help them repel rain??? ).

My hens' favorite thing to do is dustbathe in the flowerbed, then walk to my front door and then shake it all out on the porch and then walk through it leaving big chicken-feet tracks clearly imprinted in a pile of dusty dirt. That way when I walk out the front door, they KNOW i know they were there. Needless to say I hose down the porch a lot.
