Wondering if a sand with some diatomaceous earth mixed in works for a dust bath for our small 4 chicken flock? TIA!

Dry soil is best. I sometimes tossed some peat moss in with it.
Ditch the DE. It's a respiratory irritant.

Contractors sand from a home diy store is fine. As far as DE goes it is an irritant and you can read up on it here on this page more as a lot has been said about it over the years good and bad.
