Dust bathing

Do both roosters and hens dustbathe? Does one moreso than the other?
Of my 2 chicks, one LOVES to dustbathe, while the other just prefers to stand over her and pick the sand off her back.
Just curious.

Just my observation but I have six roosters each in a seperate pen with from three to seven hens. The ladies bath while the roo watches.

My hens IMMERSE themselves!! They are SO FUNNY to watch! And they get into the wierdest positions. You'll think they're half-dead or something and run over only to find they're "resting". Love my girls!

I love ro see my dominant rooster dust bathe. He usually guards over the gals whilst they're dust-bathing, but every now and then he will relax and have a dust-bathing session with one or two of his favorite hens. When he finishes with the flailing part, they groom his cheek feathers for him. He looks so contented!
