Dust baths?

I have read that quail love to dust bath. At what age would you give them some sand to dust in?

What is exactly a dust bath? And what about chicks and the starting age?

It is a bath with no water. I give my quails a bowl of play sand starting about 3 weeks old they love it!

I give all mine a square dog food bowl at least once a week filled with paly box sand. then I sit back and enjoy the show..... some times aI drink an beer while they bathe!!! its funny to watch their antics while they are dust bathing!

I have a cat litter box that I give the chickens to dust bath in... the quail get the dog bowls, or the bottom of a plastic planter (the thing that catches water if you over water the plant) put about a teaspoon of play sand in there and just giggle about thier antics!!!!

I dont have ducks but I would assume they enjoy a good dust bath too!!!

I can't wait to get to the store to get some sand. I gues I should put 2 or 3 in it at a time?
