Moved our 28 day old chicks out of the brooder inside our house to the new coop outside. Brooder size area sectioned off with the heat lamp over head, rest of the area with food and water is radiant heat at room temperature. We have the chicks on a bed of pine shavings as we had in the in house brooder. Can't believe the amount of dust they produce..... What could we use instead of pine shavings.

That's so funny I just posted of us moving ours (5 weeks old) for the exact same reason. They were driving me insane trying to keep the dust under control.

The shavings are not producing that dust well maybe 1% of it, the rest of that white dust is chick dander. Its god awful I also housed mine inside until my coop was done, I had to dust my spare room at least twice a day and wet swifer the rooms walls once a day. I also moved all furniture out that was not wood if i could and i plastic covered the couch in the spare room cause i could not move it no room anywhere else, until they could go in the garage. that is the last time i put chicks in my house LOL next time babies go in the garage
