Hi All,
frow.gif

I am going to dust my flock for the first time this weekend.
I have a few questions about what to dust them with.

I have DE, Seven Dust, and Garden Dust. Is it okay to dust
them with just DE or do I need to add some other agent to dust them with?

Thanks.

We use Sevin when we dust. I took a trial size bottle of baby powder and dumped the powder, then refilled with the Sevin. I can dust a chicken without any help that way. Be careful not to get it in eyes or noses (yours or the chickens, LOL) The DE is good in the bedding and sprinkled on roosts, etc. to HELP with pest control, but if you have an outbreak, I find that it's time to go to the big guns and that means Sevin.

Good luck, it won't be too bad

Ok, so Sevin Dust is probably the best choice to dust them with then. I do use the DE in the coop and the pen. I also have
a dust bath in their pen that has DE and sand which right now they seem to think is some kind of a treat.

Thanks for your advice.

Well I did it, I dusted my babies for the first time today.

They did not like it too much but none the less they got dusted.
My roo even coorporated with me for the most part. I was afraid that
he would not take to it well and be a real challenge to dust, not at all.

I am so proud of my girls and roo they did so good. Feels good
to have them protected from lice and mites.

Anyway just wanted to share.
