Dusty, the Broody Blue Orp, and Babies (PICS)

Best wishes for your Mildred! I think once Dusty snaps out of that spell she's been under, she will eat the starter with the babies. I'm hoping that pulling her off the nest this a.m. to poop, eat and drink will go a ways toward accomplishing that. Imagine how your legs would feel in that position for days on end! Oh, the pain! Good thing we did it earlier because now, the rain is really pounding.

I'm making Mildred some eggs, yogurt and soaked pellets. Man turkeys take forever to hatch...

It's not raining here yet but you can feel it coming.

She's fine. We built a cage on top of the broody pen that Nugget is in and then put the dog crate on top of that. Zane is the middle of the "sandwich" and Mace is way up on top. I'm icing my ankle down, can barely stand now. Wanted to do more today, but Tom's back and my ankle ran out of steam. If the weather is nice, Dusty will go outside tomorrow. The babies look great!

Very good!

It sounds like you need a few of these

though!

I tore ligaments in my ankle Saturday so I kinda know how you're feeling. My foot is in a "soft cast" and and a special shoe. My son and husband are having to take care of things for me at the moment. I prefer to be hands on myself but until this ankle heals I'm out of commission. Hope yours is better soon. Beautiful hen and adorable chicks you have there.

Thanks, hope yours feels better soon. Mine was broken in two places in January so now I'm bionic, complete with titanium plate and screws in two different bones. I was just on it alot more than usual today, ouch!

You'll need to get a card like the one my aunt has. It explains to those monitoring metal detectors why you keep setting them off. She has metal in her hip and pelvis area from an auto accident she had in 2004. She recently had more surgery during which she acquired more metal. I have watched her suffer greatly so I know that you have suffered a great deal of pain yourself. I truly hope that you are better really soon. Take care.

Hi,

Your Momma looks SO protective! What lovely pictures of beautiful Momma and those adorable

chicks. Hope they all do well (I'm sure they will).

And I hope your ankle starts feeling better. It is so frustrating when you can't do the things you want to and need to.

Good luck!
