Dyed chicks

...and then be made easier predator targets...
If the chickens are living in a secure pen, that predators cannot access, dyeing would make no difference at all.

If the chickens are exposed to predators, dyeing could change things, but it would probably depend on what color the chicken is. A white chicken might be even more obvious than a dyed one.

(I'm not really in favor of dyeing chickens, but I don't think it will make a very big difference to the risk of being eaten by a predator.)

If it's only for cosmetic reasons, I would say avoid it. At best, it will confuse and distress the animal, at worst, they will see the dye as a problem and attempt to remove it though self-plucking. I think this is ultimately a form of trying to anthropomorphize the bird - it doesn't want a cool new hairdo, it wants to be a chicken and it wants to eat.

That being said, I have no problem if the modification has a purpose beyond cosmetic. Putting a sweater on a short-hair dog in the winter, for example, is a very valid reason to dress them up since they will need the extra insulation to stay warm.

If anyone is still here to talk about it - MY HUSBAND SHOWED THIS TO ME YESTERDAY 😳😳😳😍 I love it and I hate it WHAT THE CLUCK !? https://pinkchickenproject.com/
Instead of producing pink chickens to fossilize for dead people to find in the future, perhaps the effort and money could be used to produce food for people to eat and places for people live. Just MHO

Yea, this is a terrible idea. People are already freaked out about GMOs in general, but realistically, GMOs are the only thing that will allow us to feed such a large population. Creating something like this as a protest (?) to meat consumption is only going to create more of a divide. Rather than trying to turn a chicken pink, maybe spend your energy trying to make a wheat plant that grows faster or produces more.
