Hey Danielle I am sorry to hear about your chick and do hope that it is OK.

You have posted your question on the New Members Introduction Forum and you would probably be best posting it on the Raising Baby Chicks Forum: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/11/raising-baby-chicks

In my limited experience, it would depend on why the chick was almost dead? Had the mother hen kicked it out of the nest and it was cold?

Please let us know how it turns out. My opinion: Try and figure out WHY the little fella was near death in the first place before you give it back to it's mother. Has the hen mothered before? Sometimes hens aren't the mothers we'd expect them to be and need a bit of assistance. Nurse the little fella back to health 100%, then figure out how to keep it from happening again. Best wishes! And Welcome!

In order to get the best advice as soon as possible, it's best to post in the most appropriate forum, i.e. the link given by Teila. New Member Introductions is not the best place.

Hope the peeps on the link given can help you out, in addition to that given above.

I am glad you were able to dry them off, and that the mother chicken was able to know her chicks right off again. Sounds like she maybe a great mom for them. Just keep a eye on her and them for a few days.
