Dying chick signs

I'm sorry I'm posting kind of a lot, but this is my first time raising chicks! For those who are experienced with raising chicks, is there any signs or giveaways that a chick may not make it? And if there are, how can i try to help the chick survive?
When the start to avoid the rest of the chicks and don't really want to eat or drink; you should start to closely monitor that chick. try making sure that you have time to dip the beak in water to make it want to drink and monster closely. As I type this out I'm watching my road island red along with being a normal 15 year old girl but this is so worth it in the long run if most chicks survive. I wish you luck in your journey

In my experience you can tell because they will be very lethargic and not as active as the others, not eating or drinking. Usually this indicates failure to thrive which is very very common to have one out of a group you get from the hatcheries. You can try giving it some electrolytes and scrambled egg but otherwise there’s not a whole lot (from my own experience) that you can do. Maybe someone has better advice for this but I’ve had chickens for some years now and know that sometimes you can lose one or two. Shoot I lost a whole batch I received from TS, once :-/ goodluck!

You answered an 8 year old post. They have likely learned a lot since then. 😉
