Dying chick

Good luck. So sorry your little one is sick.

Personally when I can't come up with anything else that might be wrong, I try worming. Especially since I did loose a baby about here side to what looking back very well may have been coccidia but I didn't recognize it at the time. Heff (short for Heffner, he thinks he's quite the 'ladies' man) when I found him was sitting on his roost bar looking like a wrung out wash cloth. Head down, fluffed up, weak. It took me a few hours to suspect coccidia, then suddenly remembered the little pullet I had lost. A few drops of corid and support including treating the whole flock and he recovered....twice! Lucky charmed rooster, or two of his seven lives gone, no make that 3 gone. He got beat up last year by the flock master and lost use of an eye. I'll say this about Heff, he's stubborn.

Your little one is very weak so good support and a lot of crossed fingers.

My polish hen was extremely lethargic this morning. She shares coop w/6 others none are exhibiting same behavior. They are on grass(fenced) eating chick starter and water. I gave her probiotic water through syringe, sugar water, molasses, she won’t drink or eat.on her last breath
How is she doing?
Could she have been injured or pecked in the head?
If you can get some photos of her poop that would be good.

I can’t believe she’s still alive, she’s unable to hold her head up, just laying down

I’m happy to report that my Polish hen miraculously survived whatever ailment she was experiencing. I was certain she would die and thank this forum for all the advice I read. I will never give up on a hen after the experience I had with my Eliza. I wish I could personally thank the
person who advised to dip cotton swabs in water and place on beak several times a day. This method along with everything from probiotics, baby aspirin, using syringe, warming a towel with a blow dryer to wrap her and keep her warm while trying to get liquids in her. She couldn’t lift her head or any part of her body, her eyes remained closed. The towel helped keep her upright while I gave her water with q-tip. She remained in this state for at least 4 days. Each morning I would expect the worse and was amazed she was still breathing, the only glimmer of life was that I could see her tummy move as she lay lifeless. On Friday she began to show signs of life, her eyes remained closed, but she was more excepting of water. She started to lift her head and had partial mobility. The following day I placed her crate outside next to her flock ( 8 others) everyday she got stronger I was amazed at her resilience. When she was able to walk in her own I put her in with the flock, they were very excepting and it was as if she never left. She’s doing exceptional now and is definitely a blessing.
