Ok, this is my second flock and I swear they are a sickly flock. My hen is very lethargic, pale, runny but no blood in her poop, tail down, vomited once when picked up and when you pick her up she puts her wings out. She is a 7 month old Rhode island red. Any information would be very much appreciated. I'm thinking she might have sour crop but I'm not sure. Her crop is enlarged. Thanks y'all!

I’m so sorry. She looks very sickly to me. Was her crop still enlarged this morning? I think she needs urgent supportive care, plus addressing the crop issue. Please make sure she is taking fluids, preferably with nutrients. I know sour crop can be treated, but don’t know the steps. Others here do. Please keep us posted. I think you need to rename this thread to something more urgent and specific.

Thank you for your concern. What would you suggest I rename this thread? I am very worried about her. Yes, it was enlarged this morning. I have isolated her and she is drinking water.

If you're dealing with impacted or sour crop be sure not to give her food until the crop is completely empty. If it's impacted the crop will be hard as a rock and will still be full after 24 hours of not eating. If it's sour crop the crop will be squishy like a water balloon and she will have a strong sour smell coming from her mouth. Also will be full after 24 hours of no food.

If it is sour crop the best way is the make her throw up but you have to be very careful because they could choke on the vomit, so you have to hold her body straight down to the ground and massage (not squeeze) the crop. I would watch some YouTube videos on how to treat sour crop. (If that's what you believe she has)
I've never had to deal with impacted crop.

Best of luck!! I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this. ): <3
