I'm not real computer savvy and, therefore, don't know if I'm writing this in the right section.

I'm wondering why my chickens are dying. I had 10 good layers (they are about a year old) and bought an additional 8 (that are also about a year old). The next day the neighbors dog killed 3 of my original girls. Production went down to zero. And since that time 3 of my first crop of girls have literally laid down and died. Can you help!!

Maybe they are egg bound. One of my girls was egg bound and she died.

I wonder if the second batch of birds infected your original flock, with some illness. It's a very good idea to isolate new birds for about a month before exposing them to yours. You never know what other birds may be harboring.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Sorry about your flock, X3 on posting in the Emergencies forum about them.

Welcome again - looks like the right place for writing to me - so sorry about your layers - this is the part of keeping chickens I don't enjoy. I lost one of my favorite little Pekin Bantam Cockerels recently to plain-old diarrhoea... must have eaten something whilst free-ranging
