Dying/ decorating brown eggs for Easter?

For Easter this year I’m using my hen’s brown-shelled hard boiled eggs with our meal. I’m wondering if anyone had a good suggestion how to dye them or decorate them? Some of the eggs are dark brown and I don’t think they will dye very well, but I haven’t tried it yet. Last year I just served them au natural but was wondering if anyone had any fun creative ideas??

Brown eggs color beautifully, I've used eggs as dark as really nice welsummer eggs. I just use regular cheap dye kits. To decorate without dye you can use stickers, non toxic paints (or, if you don't plan to eat the eggs any paint), etc

You can dye eggs just fine with brown eggs. In fact, it can tend to look better!

I would probably use a black pen, something similar to a sharpie, but safe to use on food products. You could make a bunch of really cool looking eggs that have tribal tattoo patterns! Look on the Internet and you can see lots of them. The black would look really cool against the brown eggs. I think that is what I will be doing this Easter.

Wow, the brown eggs almost look better dyed than the white. They look fancier and richer in color.

Because the brown shelled eggs are actually simply coated with the brown pigment, you can also use a process like "etching" to disrupt the pigment, create patterns, etc with or without dye

Blueberries, onion skins, turmeric, strawberries (a found, 2 year old package from the freezer), and grape juice.

If you draw designs with crayon on the eggs the dye won't stick to the crayon part so you can add design this way too.

Wow, that’s really cool! I used to dye sheep’s wool with natural dyes a long time ago, but never thought about eggs. What a great idea!
