Dying hen

I don't know if this is a safe idea but when I had an ill chick, he kept falling asleep while standing up. I read up online and it said to give sugar water to them occasionally to give them energy. I was buying some medicine from ebay so I needed him to stay alive until then. I'm not sure how much sugar it is per amount of water though.

I don't know if sugar is safe though because it might cause another problem. It says that it is bad at the bottom of this page:
https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/chicken-treat-chart-the-best-treats-for-backyard-chickens

I wouldn't try this unless some other members say it is okay but its just an idea to hopefully give her some energy so you could buy some of the proper medicine from the internet with fast delivery. If you are going to order, I would do it soon because Christmas is near.

Like I said, I wouldn't try giving sugar unless some other members say it is safe because I don't want to cause her more problems.

I have asked my sister to get a medicine for the chicken and she getting a multivitamin with lots of vitamins and no iron
Gladly I haven't given her any sugar in water for about 2 or 3 days
But it was recommended to me

I agree with Kathy. In my opinion, this chicken needs water, lots of water. Then she needs food. Medicine at this point is not going to do her any good at all if all of her organs are failing because she is dehydrated.

What people need to learn is that almost all sick birds will be dehydrated. Only exception being one that is drinking excessive amounts of water, which I don't think this hen is. Warmed fluids must be given to keep organs functioning. Once hydration is corrected, food can be given. Easiest and safest way is to tube them, which I can teach anyone how to do.

Tubing is not a cure, but it will keep the bird from dying of dehydration and starvation.
