Dying Turkey?? PLEASE help?

Hi Everyone! Sorry I haven't updated till now, but I didn't have an internet connection the past two days. But, Wow, I'm really glad I found this site! I had seen other places online that mentioned Tylan before.. but all of them had just stated that it was an injectable and gave no instructions on HOW to inject it. So I got the Tylan 50 and started her on it Wed night... And For the first time since I got her months ago, She's getting BETTER!! She's barely had any watery-ness to her eyes, and her cough is much less severe/going away. She's also noticeably getting stronger... being a little more strong-willed when I handle her (haha), which is a welcome sign to me!! Did it just as recommended: 1/2 cc down the throat. Thank you all SO much for the advice, and I'm just SO appreciative, so happy that she's finally getting better

I will continue to monitor her and hopefully in a few days I'll be able to report that she's all better!!

Great report, now get some electrolytes in her water to perk her up a bit and help her recover. In the absense of electrolytes you can put a teaspoon of brown sugar and a littel salt in the water and it wil do the same thing. Enjoy the turkey they are great fun.

Thank you! I will check TSC by me to see if they have the electrolytes... I have wondered if there was some sort of vitamin/nutrient supplement I could give her, considering her previous owners didn't take such great care of her in general. So she'll be done with her 7 days of antibiotics Wed... still def doing better. No puffy "air-sacs", no more foamy eyes... def looking better, stronger. She does still have a bit of a lingering cough though and the past couple of nights, I've noticed she still has quite a rattle. Maybe she's still just congested and it'll take a while to sort of expel it?

you can keep her on a few more days if needed. If the tylan does not get rid of her cough by 10 days I would say you have something else going on. I would just make sure you watch her carefully and get her on 30% feed and suppliment with electro lytes for a week or so. The high protein feed will help her build strong bones and good muscle which is very important for turkeys when they are young ( till about 20 weeks or so) then you can cut back to 20% with no problems. I hope she does well it sounds like you have become quite attached already.

Thanks so much everyone! She has been much better except at night I'd noticed she still seemed to have more of a cough/rattle remaining... until tonight! Tonight she was so much quieter, didn't notice any coughing at all and maybe only a -slight- heaviness to her breathing, but no rattling

I was thinking I should keep her on the antibiotics just another two-three days to be safe? That would be about ten days total.
I really appreciate the help and support... I was so worried about her! So thanks again, and thanks Jason for taking the time to keep me posted with great advice to see her through

You are welcome, I am glad to have helped. I lost a few birds when i was getting started in this adventure and it is tough. Who would think you could get so close to a little bird so quick. Before long your little bird will be greeting you with gobbles or chirps and come running and flapping across the yard to see you. Enjoy her/him.
