E-readers

Love my Nook!!! They are coming out with a COLOR Nook soon. **Swoon** Lots of free books and ebooks under $5. I also get magazine subscriptions on it. I chose Nook because of the ability to have better coverage in foreign countries.

I absolutely love my Kindle. I've had it for about 18 months.

The nice thing about many specially designed e-readers is that they read just like paper. No glowing, no flickering. As I recall, iPods have backlit screens.

I have a BeBook, and I love it.

I assume by deployed you mean one of the Mid East sandboxes. You might want to check on how they stand up to sand. Also remember that in the military everything is transported in duffel bags thrown in the back of trucks like bags of potatoes. A good hard shell carrying case would be needed.

Actually, the Ipod Touch does have a backlit screen.

I used my Ipod Touch as a ebook reader before I got a kindle. It worked great but I wanted something with a bigger screen.

should I get the kindle with the 3G or just the kindle with wi fi??? Its a 50 dollar difference. What exactly is the 3G? Can you download book ANYWHERE without having to pay each month? Im a bit confused about that. I think I am getting a kindle instead of a nook.

I can't remember now what benefit the 3G one had over just the wi-fi, but I remember that it didn't make sense to me to pay the extra 50 bucks, so I got the wi-fi one. With that one (the one that's $139), I can go to a hot spot, say a Panera Bread location, any coffee shop with wi-fi, etc., and connect and download books. But I haven't even used that feature. I simply download whatever I want at home, using the USB cord connected to my computer, and then carry it wherever I go with my books already loaded on it. I don't see the need to download books out on the road, but everyone is different.

PS: With the version I mentioned above, there is no paying for anything other than the device when you buy it and the books that you buy. No fees to go online at a hot spot.

When you buy the wifi one, you can still read anywhere you want you just cant download without wi fi, right? I have finally decided to buy the nook lol Do you want to know why? It looks better

I also like the touch screen. I saw both demonstration videos and the nook seemed easier to use. Im not a hard core reader either. I doubt I will download over 3,500 books! I will use it for school.
